It’s official: The Sisterhood of Dune is the next McDune

Posted By SandChigger on July 12, 2010

HLP mouthpiece (info-anus) Kevin J. Anderson has FINALLY announced on Twitter what we all knew was coming:

Brian Herbert & I spent most of last week brainstorming and outlining next Dune book, THE SISTERHOOD OF DUNE. Polishing chapter outline now
39 minutes ago via web

So it’s official. Shitty sales of the first two Heroes of Dune books have prompted the publishers and writers (cough cough) to DROP one series halfway through and start up another one.

What clearer indication that the McDune books are in trouble could you ask for?

Most of last week???? Usually takes them a weekend at most – does this mean they’re going to take their time and put more care, effort and attention into this one?

BWAHAHAHA – sorry, couldn’t keep a straight face any longer. Who am I kidding – it’ll get squirted out by end of August guaranteed.

    Can’t wait for Keith’s ‘spin’…

I was really hoping for Dune Suks first. Oh well.

  3. Anudar says:

Well that’s really great. Just another argument for my new position : I’m not buying or probably reading anyone more of the McDune books.

Why is it ? I was accustomed to buy & read the yearly product when it was available in paperback edition. At my favorite bookshop this paperback edition was available during April. But for Winds of Dune, it was delayed until June. At the beginning of July, the book wasn’t available (anymore ?). I don’t want to wait more, I don’t want to buy it with Amazon, and I want to regain some litterary sanity.
So I guess they’re loosing one more buyer… erm, reader.

And how rude they are. I don’t like what they’re writing but it’s a probability that some readers enjoy their stories. What about these ? Don’t you think these readers wi’ll be dissapointed not to read the next book in the Heroes of Dune series ?

I think this may serve as a bit of a wake-up call for some of the brighter McDune fans out there, once they figure out that this decision is purely motivated by the lack of commercial success of the Heroes books. :)

There won’t be any hope for diehard fanboys like TAZ or arnoldo or the KJASF crew, of course. They’ll gobble up any shit KJA squirts out…

  5. Serkanner says:

I think this means nothing less than the start of the end for the franchise. We alreade know that also this book will not sell and I foresee that these series might as well end with only one finished atrocity out of three.

  6. Anudar says:

Start of the end for the franchise ? Do you mean we would at last be seeing the end of this revolting masquerade ?
Or maybe the HLP will choose another author since the one they’ve chosen hasn’t the literary capacity for the work ?

    From Facebook Dune

Anyone who’s attended Brian Herbert’s and Kevin J. Anderson’s talks and signings knows they’ve been planning these books for a long time and, while they still have two more inquels to do, they found themselves much more engrossed with this story.

I LOVE IT! They changed it because they just couldn’t wait to tell those stories they had floating around in their heads all this time, even though they are still trying to figure out an outline for it.

And 2012! Even better. The publishers are fed up!

  8. ErasOmnius says:

KJA: Heroes was also a story that needed to be told — and it was told. 4 books, 3 books, 2 books. Doesn’t matter. Heroes was, and always will be about Paul.

Commentator: Paul is still alive as the Preacher.

    KJA: Oh that’s right…um…um

  9. TheDukester says:

That is some AMAZING spin. And the preeks will eat it right up: “Yes, Kevin … whatever you say, Kevin … durrrrr.”

  10. SandChigger says:

They’re already eating it up on the Official Dune page on Facebook.

I can’t wait to see how the Sisters can become invisible and do that super stealthy ninja shit they do now!! HIIIIIIIYAAAA!

  12. Dan says:

Oh my God I hope that Norma Cenva makes an appearance. She’s so cool and authentic and in character with the Dune universe; that’s why Frank Herbert and not Kevin J Anderson made her an integral part of the story.

    I hate them.

Welcome, Dan! Your water is ours, your hate our hate. :)
